Disabled Welfare Association continues to run impactful initiatives that strengthen independence, mobility, and community participation for PWDs. Our ongoing work includes skill development, accessible mobility support, and awareness-driven engagements. Through structured programs and dedicated outreach, we ensure consistent growth opportunities for individuals of all ages. Current efforts focus on distributing essential equipment, offering practical training, and guiding communities toward inclusion through meaningful disability rehabilitation projects, supportive assistive devices distribution, and structured IL training for disabled pathways.
DWA has won the prestigious 2022 IEEE HAC/SIGHT project in collaboration with the Engineering faculty of Hamdard University for transforming the lives of distorted PWDs in Manghopir.
UNwomen sponsored this training project for the capacity building and Empowerment of 50 women with disabilities. These women were also given entrepreneurship opportunities.
DWA won this training project competition on behalf of Pakistan along with Nepal, Thailand and Mongolia. More than fifty countries of Asia Pacific applied in this Training projects.
HI partnered with DWA in organizing TTT on ‘Reducing Gender Based Violence (GBV)’ for proficient women with disabilities. They ran awareness campaign against GBV in slums after the training.
Handicapped International (HI) ventured with DWA by empowering 50 Women with Disabilities through the training of Dresses designing, fashion designing and making home décor items.
DWA has been providing relevant IL guidance and training to the staff of DPOs/NGOs of slums and rural Sindh. DWA has won the reputation of IL trainer Group across Sindh.
DWA won this training project of RI Korea in 2018 as well. In this training project, 35 young and female youth with disabilities were mobilized and given academic learning and skill training opportunities.
TDEA and CIP took the Initiative for the inclusion of Marginalized communities in the Electoral process for General Election 2018. DWA participated in it as a focal organization of PWDs.
HI and DWA conducted awareness program about early evacuation and restoration measures and provided economic relief to the PWDs of Jaati and Sajawal communities after heavy floods.
PSO sponsored the free distribution of 100 manual wheelchairs among deserving PWDs to remove their mobility barrier and bring them into life from home confinement.
DWA initiated the pioneering project of establishing an ‘IL center’ in Karachi. This project has further advanced, and now it has been transformed into the DWA-ILC Program as mentioned in ongoing projects.
Under the supervision of UNHC officials, DWA conducted a rehab program to improve the socio-economic status of Afghan immigrants in northern bypass area slums located in Karachi.
A highly praiseworthy initiative of Telenor, which availed the services of DWA’s Access audit specialists for conducting access audits of all of its franchises, sales offices and services centres of Telenor.
DWA won the World Bank’s ‘Taraqqi Bazar Contest’ in 2007 and established a world-renowned ‘Mobility Workshop’, which is still sustainable and sells customized Tri-Motorbikes on a no-profit-no-loss basis.
Telenor and DWA assisted home-confined PWDs to open small tuck shops with easy load facilities and start earning. PWD could also sell confectionary items, bakery items grocery items etc.
Disabled Welfare Association provides essential mobility and support tools to individuals who struggle with daily movement and independence.
